San Francisco

In my heart I dedicate areas to different things I'm in love with; family, friends, animals.
But I like to think that a giant part of my heart has the San Francisco skyline etched into it.
You may think it hard to have fallen for an entire city, but I have.
San Francisco is a name that whenever I hear it,  I feel a warm and bright sunshine
opening up in my mind.
It's a place that I love SO much it actually physically hurts me not to be near it.

I love EVERYTHING.
I love the view of the city from Texas and 19th on Potrero Hill.
I love driving on Polk at 2am on a Friday laughing at all of the drunk girls and club guys.
I love some how always ending up in the Castro.
I love the "No sex" guy who sits beside market yelling at everyone.
I love that on of the best days of my life was when my  best friend and I walked from the wharf, along Columbus, past California and through North beach, China Town and finally to union square in the blue twilight hugging the orange streetlights.
I love walking into MOMA and always seeing a new Warhol, never failing to make me cry in joy.
I love SF State, a school I've been waiting to attend since I was 13.
I love feeling like I never have enough I <3 Sf shirts, but would never wear them in Sf.
I love walking into Bamboo restaurant and being instantly recognized by all the servers, who already know what we want to order.
I love running out towards Crissy field in the rain not caring if sand sticks to my heels.
I love the Mondrian house facing west in Sunset.
I love the bay air.
I love the roof tops, the alley ways, the brick, the stone, the doors, the concrete, the windows the stairs.
I love knowing that no matter how much I search the city and remember the streets, there are still so many things to see and do.
I love doing touristy things but always telling people we are locals.
I love competing for lane space with munis.
I love looking up and seeing a cat peek through a window. (This always seems to be the case around Filmore.)
I love sneaking into fancy hotels around Union and taking the elevator all the way to the top floor.
I love cab drivers getting yelled at by their wives in a different language.
I love the overly well groomed hedges of the Presidio.
I love feeling so small in the FD, towered over by a forest of buildings.
I love how Sf makes every holiday feel even better.
I love when I took Steph up to Twin Peaks for the first time at night, and watching her eyes tear up.
I love the rusty steal bars on windows in the Tenderloin.
HELL, I love the Tenderloin!
I love Wasteland, Held over, and La Rosa in Haight.
I love that I can park for free in Golden Gate Park and lay on a bench in the sun completely happy, just being there laying on a bench in Golden Gate Park, in the sun.
I love that I could write an extensive list even longer than this one.
I love that I'm on the verge of crying right now just thinking about that place.
I love knowing that one day soon, I get to wake up every morning there.
And most of all I love that view of the city, riding over the Bay Bridge from Oakland. That is a view I hold so dearly in my heart, it alone, gets me through any pain or sadness.

I have had some of the most stressful, angry times in that city, but I was still so happy.
The best part of being in love with a city is that this isn't a love that depends on anyone else.
It's purely between me and a bunch of tall buildings and a bay.
Just the same as having brown eyes and fair skin, I consider San Francisco part of my identity.
It's a place I know I belong.

Photo of the Week!

Okay so last weekend I shoot pretty much my first wedding. It's VERY safe to say I was freaked out and worried, but I think it turned out pretty well. In my next post I will share a few photos of the wedding. But yes, I've been editing like a mad woman since Saturday. :)

My Valentines day!

So I'm a little late on this, but I wanted to do a post about what i did for V day! It was pretty uneventful, until about 5:30 when I had dinner reservations with my best friend, Bibbles. We went to a local restaurant in SLO called, Novo. It's our favorite in the entire county. I ordered scallops, a salad and garlic baby potatoes. Bibbles ordered some yummy prawns and a Caesar salad. We had ana amaing time and exchanged gifts. He gave me this beautiful elvish looking ring, because we have been reading Lord of the Rings together. :) It began to rain as we were eating which was actually really fun. nothing like sitting outside eating amazing food with a light rain coming down.
Here are a few photos I took at our dinner.

Inspirafashion.

So there's this blogger...  she can can put together pieces from Bay area thrift stores to make any vintage lover jealous, she's totally gorgeous, plus her hair will make you wanna ditch those sidebangs immediatley, and I swear you will NEVER find anyone sweeter on the internet.
This is Kathleen of Inspirafashion.
(I recommend you go click her "follow" button now.)
:)

My name is Kathleen Murillo.  I'm a 20 year old student from UC Berkeley and originally am from a small town called Hercules, yes like the greek god lol.  And I created my blog called "Inspirafashion," mainly because I wanted an outlet to share my love & passion for fashion, but also to have a way to connect with such stylish everyday girls from all over the world who really inspire me with their fashion blogs.  I was first a part of Chictopia before creating my blog which was another part of my story that inspired me to make Inspirafashion.  Inspirafashion is a mix of two words I feel really exude what my blog is all about -- Inspiration and fashion.  Two words when combined can literally create a whole other world and meaning of fashion.

How would you define your style?
Right now I'm really feeling like Mary-Kate Olsen meets Zooey Deschanel.  But those are my two major style icons haha.  I would say my style is everchanging yet at the moment it would be urban, romantic, bohemian, and thrifty.

Who or what inspires your style the most?
As I said before, every girl, not necessarily those who need to have a high-name in fashion, but those everyday girls walking down the street or my friends or family or readers or anyone really can inspire me.  If I see a look that is creative and beautiful, I'll try to incorporate a certain piece from their look into my own everyday looks as well.

What is your absolute favorite fashion piece to wear?
I would have to say at the moment it is definitely the maxi skirt!  I am in love with the silhouette and the shape and form.  Although I am not one of the tallest girls, it certainly makes me feel really tall, esp paired with high heels! :)

I noticed you have mostly thrifted and vintage clothing. Where is your number one place to buy your clothing?
Ultimately, I feel I find amazing finds of certain categories of clothing from different thrift stores.  My favorite for accessories (bags, belts, etc.) is from Goodwill.  For good tops, skirts, cardigans, and jackets, it would definitely be Crossroads.  And recently, I discovered Wasteland Clothing, it is so amazing especially their shoe collection!  I think it really just depends on the person who goes thrifting/vintage shopping and how their taste and style is.

Out of all the recent decades, in terms of fashion, which decade do you love the most?
This is soo hard, it is really between the 60s and the 70s.  I loove the 60s for their hippie outfits with bohemian headbands & a grungy chic vibe, but then again I love the 70's for their flared jeans and colorful prints.  Ah, but I'm in love with the 80s too!  The sequins, the leg warmers, and the big broad shoulder blazers.  As you can tell, I'm a sucker for most past eras and I think I've watched way too many movies from those times lol.
I'm a big fan of a good fringe. What inspired you to cut yours?
What inspired me was I was so tired of my side bangs, I felt like I wanted a big change for my haircut..so decided to go with fringe/bangs.  But as in a certain celebrity that inspired me, would have to be Katie Holmes or Zooey Deschanel, I just love their fringe! :p

You have a long, impressive list of blogging and fashion accomplishments, how did you get into blogging?
Aww thank you! :)  Blogging happened first with Chictopia, an amazing community and network of fashion lovers from all around the world who really inspired me and gave me so much amazing support to create my blog, Inspirafashion.  From there, I was just blown away by how much feedback and love my blog was getting.  I just try to really keep my blog genuine and personal with styling and outfits I love to share and hope to inspire with my readers and any new visitors.

What is your favorite part about fashion blogging?
All of your comments!!  My readers definitely keep me going..I will literally spend hours on doing a vlog post or stand in the freezing cold for a mini-photoshoot in order to do a post in a certain day -- I know it sounds extreme, but I do this because it's something I'm really passionate about and ultimately love to do.  I've also made so many lasting and wonderful friendships through blogging.  Overall, I'm so excited to be fashion blogging in the future with all of you :).
Thank you so much, Kathleen!
