Addicted to working- My week of shooting in LA

So I recently realized something: I am addicted to working. I absolutely love it. I almost can't stop my self from editing and networking all day. I'm constantly thinking, improving, and working at my photography. Last week I drove to LA with my best friend, Alicia, who is a makeup artist (see her videos here!) to carry out 5 days of straight shooting. I did a casting call for LA models and we recruited 5 beautiful, talented and incredibly sweet girls. And so we did a shoot a day for 5 days. Firstly, that's crazy. I had already done my stylized wedding shoot that saturday, then had an engagement shoot that Sunday. Now I was going to leave early Monday morning and continue with this crazy pattern of photography scheduling. Remember one shoot is pretty freaking exhausting. There is loads of effort that go into planning, themes, ideas and making sure everything turns out the best it can for the circumstances.
Just the worry of making sure a model would show up on time is tiring! I always have a moment after Alicia finishes up the makeup and hair, where I briefly freak out and say an inner, resounding "Don't fuck this up". Because at that point it's its really just up to me to prove to this model that she didn't waste her time driving over here on her day off. I feel like adding that bit of pressure is a good thing. Creative people thrive under pressure. So i woke up on Friday morning completely exhausted, having that oh-god-why-did-I-do-so-many-jobs-in-a-row-I'm-in-so-much-pain-right-now feeling. But I chugged some dayquil, took a couple pain pills and pushed through my last shoot at Griffith park. I was so sore, which made me realize that I do some strange poses when snapping shots. I'm flat on the ground, I'm hoping up on tables, I'm one legged against a wall. I must look very silly, but hey it gets the job done. I came back home on Saturday, feeling sick and I totally puked a couple times from exhaustion. hahah.. But everything went fairly smoothly.
We had no flakes, no disasters, and didn't get kicked out of any locations! Yay!
So being addicted to working (and still deciding if this is good or bad) I would love to show you guys a bit of what I did last week, day by day.

The Angelina in Black

Collection B jacket, H&M mint skirt and blouse, forever 21 bag, Jefferey Campbell Litas

These were taken in downtown Sf at an Academy of Art building. That weekend I actually went to check out the Academy of Art school of photography. I headed down to the main building, got all checked in then I hopped on a bus. The bus dropped me off across the street and I honestly had no clue where I was supposed to go. Soon I realized that the photo building was across a busy street in a building that had all oil paintings in the window. Oil paintings.. in a photo school. I hiked up 4 flights of a hollow building that didn't hold much for me. I wandered through hallways to locked lab doors and more dead end confusion. I was already against my initial plan to attend the art academy, and this visit just further reenforced that.
So yes, the Art academy isn't for me. I don't have the time and I don't need to spend the money and resources to go learn more about doing something I already do. I want to work full time under another better established photographer, and luckily I've just been offered a second shooter job in SF!
In closing, no more school for me. Just real life, please.
:)

Again don't forget to check out Collection B's facebook store, using all my photos!

Collection B- The Angelina

Jacket- Collection B, forever 21 dress, Jefferey Campbell Litas

Hello! The above photos are of me modeling Collection B's new Spring 2012 line of jackets!
This particular jacket is The Angelina in cream.
You Can see the rest of my shots for them on their facebook store!
Please do check them out! I'd loved every piece from them. You just can't find affordable, quality jackets like these especially with trendy style and overall adorableness!
I shot these photos in San Fransisco's Presidio district with all the massive, glamorous houses. My goal was to look happy and carefree, perhaps like the soft flowers waving under the spring sun. But for some of you this may be the first time you'll see me smiling.. haha.
But it won't be the last. I smile all the time and am a very happy lady. I suppose the camera just happens to pick up my more intense side!
:)

Also please check out a really great style interview I did for the ABCS of Style!
I love how they mentioned my darling goat Brownie!

Elopement in a golden field- A stylized wedding shoot

 Here it is!
The shoot that consumed so much of my time for the past two months! This is my stylized wedding shoot! It took some amazing vendors, makeup artist, assistants and models (and tons of stress) to put this all together and I could not be happier with it! I found the perfect, most gorgeous bride, Rebecca and my best friend, Pete was brave enough to be my handsome groom! They really sold the love idea don't you think? Haha.
I put Rebecca in my vintage 60s lace dress and I handmade Pete's bow tie.
I decided on a vintage travel theme because of all the old cameras, suitcases, books and globes that I already had, and the fact that if I were to get married this is exactly how I would do it.
Field, sunlight, theme and.. all of it really.
Of course I'm not really one for the whole marriage concept but if it looked something as romantic, close, and full of love as this, well who knows!
This shoot turned out better than expected and I have SO many photos to still go through. My hope is to submit these to wedding inspiration sites such as Green Wedding Shoes. Wish me luck!
